Georgetown:ย Homeownership dreams for some 190 Guyanese, are closer to realization, as the Central Housing & Planning Authority (CH&PA) forges ahead with governmentโs development agenda.

On Wednesday, Minister of Housing and Water, Collin Croal, visited Cummings Lodge, where the homes are being constructed for low-income earners. Minister Croal expressed his satisfaction in how works have advanced.
The project is being undertaken by 13 contractors and aspects of land preparation have been completed thus far. The focus now lies in building the foundations of the structures, which has already begun. Homes built under the program will be two-bedroom elevated houses, measuring approximately 20ร30 square feet.
These are projects that fall under the record-breaking $13.9 billion in contracts signed on March 16, 2021 by the Ministry and CH&PA. Works on the low-income houses began late March, 2021 and are expected to be completed within the next four months.
Along with the Minister was Chief Executive Officer of CH&PA, Mr. Sherwyn Greaves, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Water, Mr. Andre Ally, Supervisory Engineer, Mr. Cy Rodrigues, as well as, a number of engineers attached to the Projects Department of CH&PA.
Also present was a high-level team from the Guyana Police Force including Senior Superintendent of Police Mr. Calvin Brutus, Deputy Commissioner (ag) Mr. Clifton Hicken and Regional Commander of โ4Aโ Division, Mr. Simon Mc Bean, to craft a security plan.
