100 new buses to be added to national transportation system

Port-of-Spain: The Public Transport Service Corporation (PTSC)  is seeking to expand its routes throughout Trindad and Tobago and already there are more plans to get a further 100 new buses and upgrade and repair buses to join the existing fleet.

PTSC chairman Devant Maharaj said that he has already made the request for a further 100 buses from the Ministry of Works and Transport. He says that at the end of the year more buses for persons with special needs will also be introduced.

The PTSC chairman and executive members of the National Infrastructure Development Company (NIDCO) launched a charity iniatitive today by which school students are given a free ride on the water taxi service which is operated by NIDCO and PTSC bus service.

Maharaj says this is to rebrand the service as a reliable form of transportation. Project Director of the Water Taxi Service, Sharon Taylor says schools should be encouraged to use the service.

The first school to launch the project was the St Helena Early Childhood Centre.
