Port-of-Spain: The Government has secured a loan of $230 million to pay contractors owed by the state-run Urban Development Corporation from the last government.
The announcement was made by acting Finance Minister Vasant Bharath at a post-Cabinet media conference moments ago.
He says the money is available immediately and payments would be made based on those who are owed first.
Contractors had complained that as much as $8 billion dollars were owed to them.
