$12 million marijuana bust at major port

Port-of-Spain: Police have seized a container with over $12 million dollars worth of high grade marijuana at the port of Point Lisas in Trinidad's west coast.

Investigators say the shipment came from Jamaica.

Acting on a tip, officers from the north-eastern division task force went to the container examination centre at Point Lisas and discovered 118 bags of the illicit drug in a red container.

The marijuana weighed 300 kilograms.

No arrests have yet been made in connection with the drug bust. Within recent weeks there have been growing concerns among law enforcement officers about a Jamaica-Trinidad connection in the drug trade.
