Georgetown: The Ministry of Public Health has reported that the number of persons who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus now stands at 139 as two new cases have been confirmed.
To date, 1,499 tests have been conducted yielding 1,360 negative results.
Of the 139 persons testing positive for the virus, 66 are in isolation at various facilities across Guyana while two are in institutional quarantine and two others remain in the COVID-19 ICU at the GPHC.
A total of 62 recoveries and 11 deaths have been recorded.
Globally, there are a total of 5,304.772 cases with 342,029 deaths while in the Region of the Americas the total number of cases is 2, 395,295 with 141,472 deaths.
Guyanese are asked to take every precaution necessary, particularly in Hinterland Regions, border communities and hotspots.
Everyone is asked to always practice social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation to reduce the spread of the coronavirus disease. They are also reminded to practise frequent hand washing/sanitising and always wear a face mask if they have to go out.
