Georgetown : Over 1400 men and women graduated from the University of Guyana this evening at its Turkeyen Campus.
For the first time there were graduates in Bachelors of Dental Surgery, Bachelors of Science and Pharmacy and Post Graduate Diploma in Orthopaedic and Traumatology.
Valedictorian and Best Graduating Student was Vineeta Persaud who copped the President’s Medal.
Chancellor of the University, Professor Compton Bourne said that it is gratifying to know that the university is again graduating another stock of educated persons, and in so doing it is contributing to national development.
The institution expects to have an even larger number of graduates in the future as enrollment has expanded, he said, and added that for the academic year of 2010-2011, enrollment was almost 11% higher than the preceding year.
