Biche: Police have found marijuana in the Charuma Forest in Biche with a street value of over $156 million. Police also seized arms and ammunition in two seperate raids in the same forest.
Today being the 45th day of the State of Emergency, police say a total of 3,853 people have been arrested but they add that police exercises in this period have not just been targetting arrests but also illegal drugs and arms and ammunition.
Public Information Officer of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service ASP Joanne Archie says in the first instance officers destroyed thousands of fully grown marijuana trees and found cured marijuana with a street value of $4.5 million.
In the second exercise officers from the Organised Crime and Narcotics Unit , the Easterm Division Task Force and the Defence Force raided two camps also in the forest where they made an even bigger find of not just the illegal drugs but also arms and ammunition.
No one was arrested.
