Georgetown: A suspected bandit identified as 27 year old Calvin Edwards was killed Friday after a confrontation with police in Bent Street, Wortmanville Georgetown after an exchange of gunfire.

Reports are that he was escaping from the police. He shot minutes before running into a house in a bid to escape. Two persons in the home were later arrested and taken down to the police station for questioning as police seized several cell phone and mobile devices.

Residents claimed that the alleged bandit had surrendered before he was shot dead. However, many people were in loud praise of the police noting that prior to Edwards’s death another suspected bandit was shot dead after he and an accomplice attempted to rob a grocery store on D’urban and Hardina Streets, Wortmanville, Georgetown. His accomplice escaped and he was shot dead inside the grocery store. He was identified as 26-year old Trevor Barrow. A firearm was recovered from the scene where Edwards was killed.

Police noted that Edwards was the person who accompanied the dead bandit to the robbery as investigations continue.
