Georgetown : Today at around 2:30a.m a man armed with a handgun entered the home of Margaret Griffith, 59 years of Bent Street, Georgetown, and held her at gunpoint.
The man took away a quantity of jewellery and then abducted Griffith’s niece 18 year old Ashanti Paynewhose hands were duct-taped and taken away in a waiting motor vehicle.
Quick response by the police led to a search on a house at ‘D’ Field, Sophia where Ashanti Payne was found. An unlicensed .32 Taurus revolver with five rounds was also found and a man has been arrested.
Investigations are ongoing.
