Mahaicony : The Government of Guyana on Friday continued its commitment to close the Information Communication Technology gap in Guyana by distributing 191 more laptops to residents of Huntley, Mahaicony.
Recipients who received the laptops were trained on site, and were instructed to return daily until the required 10 hours of training was completed.
Region Five Chairman Bindrabhan Bisnauth took the opportunity to clear up any misconceptions and rumours that were spread by persons regarding privacy issues after receiving the laptops. He expressed gratitude to President Donald Ramotar for continuing the initiative which was started by former president, Bharrat Jagdeo.
He stated that, ‘One Laptop Per Family’ officials visited Region Five on many occasions and distributed hundreds of laptops to families. He further cautioned families to desist from attempting to obtain more than one of the device.
He urged residents to be patient and reassured them that every citizen who applied for a laptop will receive one.
