Point Lisas: Police have found over $20 million worth of marijuana in a shipping container at the Point Lisas port.
The find is the third in as many months. On March 12th a container bound for Jamaica was found with $30 million worth of high grade mairijuana parked on the port.
Just days before that another $18 million worth of Arizona marijuana was also found on the port.
Police say they are yet to make an arrest in this case.
However several joint police and military operations over the last few months have unearth over $180 million worth of marijauna. Police have been using new helicopters in their arsenal in the war against illicit drugs, during which one police officer was killed last month in a marijuana field, in a shoot-out with criminals.
Meanwhile the wife of a well known calypsonian is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande magistrate charged with possesion of drugs for trafficking.
Reports are that during Corpus Christi celebrations on Thursday officers of the Eastern Division Task Force conducted several exercises in the Valencia area where eight people including the caypsonian's wife was arrested with a quantity of marijauna.
Other persons were arrested for outstanding warrants and other crimes.
