23-year-old electricity worker falls to his death

Tunapuna: A craftsman trainee employeed with state owned Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (TTEC),  23-year-old Richie Rivers has lost his life on the job.

Police reports indicate that Rivers was in the process of changing a pole mounted on a transformer outside Foodmasters Supermarket in Tunapuna when flames erupted.

He fell from the pole and was taken to the Eric Williams Medical Complex where he died while undergoing treatment. TTEC says it has formed an internal investigative team including a representative of the Oilfields Workers Trade Union to probe the incident and report on its findings.

Meantime TTEC says it will pay for the funeral and other related expenses of Rivers and will provide counselling not just for his relatives but for members of staff including the crew that was on site at the time of the incident.
