Georgetown : The One Laptop Per Family pilot project in Lodge, Georgetown saw 30 young persons taking home laptops after being selected from hundreds who came from immediate and surrounding areas and who engaged in learning and helped 90 others to also enrich their knowledge.
This project goes back to January when the beneficiaries began three months of intensive training in basic and advanced levels computer training. The training reflected international good practice, of blended learning using face to face and self learning using tools provided on the laptops.
Minister of Labour Manzoor Nadir, who has oversight for the Programme said, the aim of the administration is to ensure that Guyanese have ICT skills at hand, since the world is advancing technologically.
