3rd Annual South Rupununi Safari launched

Georgetown:  Guyanese are urged to come out in their numbers to explore, experience and enjoy all the wonders of Guyana during the third Annual South Rupununi Safari.

The Safari kicks off on November 24 and will be a grand six-day outdoors adventure, trailing through the tropical rainforests all the way to the vast and picturesque savannahs in the South Rupununi district.

Participants will experience a journey of a lifetime, having the opportunity to come closer to nature and witness up close native wildlife, visit 14 Amerindian villages, enjoy and appreciate the various eco-friendly lifestyles of the hinterland inhabitants, put their driving skills to the test by travelling through the coarse rainforest terrain as well as drive over the famous Shea Rock. The Safari will also afford tourists a grand opportunity to meet new people, develop friendships and create memories that will last a lifetime.

The trip will cover 1000 miles, and is guaranteed to be the ideal adventure for nature lovers.

Fifty persons, inclusive of Guyanese, Surinamese and Trinidadians, are already registered to travel on the trip. Persons from Canada, Brazil, Barbados, Grenada and England have already expressed great interest in participating.

To participate, individuals are required to pay $80,000. This fee will include transportation, meals and hotel accommodation. Persons with four-wheel drive vehicles are required to pay $15,000. For more information, persons can contact Rainforest Tours on 231-5661.

The South Rupununi Safari was created following the great demand for the North Rupununi Safari.

The Safari is a collaborative event between the Tourism Ministry , the Guyana Tourism Authority and Rainforest Tours.
