Georgetown: The Demerara Harbour Bridge will be receiving a PLC system for the retractor/acceptor span. Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon says the government will be expending 57,000 Euros on the project.
He said the contract for this project received a no objection from the cabinet on Tuesday last, and a Dutch firm will be executing the works. This new PLC system will replace the existing one which has been in place for decades.
Adding that the existing system can no longer keep up with the rigorous demand of traffic across the structure, Luncheon said there will be a complete removal of the old and obsolete system, replaced by a modern one.
