Georgetown: A 58 year old male resident of Ocean Garden, Meter-Meer-Zorg, West Coast Demerara (WCD) who chopped his lover about the body Sunday last was apprehended by the police Tuesday.
He is expected to be arraigned before a Magistrate Wednesday whilst the victim is still hospitalised and is reported to be in a stable condition.
Enquiries disclosed that the victim, Narainie Gopaul, 23 years, a sales clerk was returning home from work when she was attacked by the suspect, who was armed with a cutlass. He reportedly chopped her on both arms, right foot and neck then fled the scene.
The incident occurred about 23:00hrs in the victim’s yard at 74 Railway View, Meter-Meer-Zorg, WCD and the suspect was arrested the said night.
Reports indicate that the man had complained about infidelity which prompted the confrontation.
