Georgetown: Distribution of the ‘Because we Care’ grant continued today this time, on the Coast of Essequibo where 6,252 were expected to uplift their vouchers.
Ten distribution sites were set up today, each servicing at least three schools in its immediate environs with the exception of the Aurora Secondary School which only serviced parents and guardians from that school.
Minister Manickchand held a meeting with head teachers and regional officials this morning to recap procedural matters and clarify any queries schools might have had. She explained the care in which she expects each officer to treat with the handling and distribution of vouchers and thanked them for working to ensure that each child receives his/her grant.
The distribution of the ‘Because we Care’ $10,000 grant will continue in Essequibo on Tuesday, October 21. Two thousand, eight hundred and forty children are expected to receive vouchers.
The Ministry wishes to remind the public that vouchers can only be en-cashed at Western Union/Bill Express locations country wide by November 30.
