Tobago: The Tobago House of Assembly (THA) says it is investigating the theft of over $72,000 in chicken over the last 12 months.
The theft was only discovered following a financial audit of the Tobago Cold Storage and Warehouse Facility.
It was discovered when the THA's Division of Finance and Enterprise Development conducted an audit and found thatthe chicken unaccounted for.
Finance Secretary Dr Anselm London says that of the $175,000 audited over the year only $103,000 worth of chicken were accounted for.
He says the police may soon have to get involved.
Dr London admits there are some shortcomings in the management of the cold storage and says the security and organisational structure would be improved.
He says he'll be giving the board the authority to take serious action.
The general manager of the facility, Murchison Neptune resigned last month.
He has not been directly linked to the latest findings.
