Georgetown : The driver of Motor Lorry GLL5714 is in custody assisting with the investigation into a fatal accident that resulted in the death of cattle farmer Moodnie Persaud, 73 yrs. of 116 Success, East Coast Demerara (ECD), which occurred about 6:00 a.m. on the Le Ressouvenir Public Road, ECD. The body is presently at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Investigation revealed that the victim was in the process of crossing her cattle from south to north when she came in contact with the tray of the lorry which was proceeding west along the southern side of the road and as a result of the impact, she fell and the rear left wheel of the vehicle ran over her head.
A breathalyser test was administered and the driver of East La Penitence was not found to have any alcohol on his breath.
