Georgetown : The police are investigating a fatal accident that occurred around 12:30 today at Water Street and John Fernandes Wharf Access Road, Georgetown, and resulted in the death of Compton Lacon, 74 years, address not yet known.
Initial investigations revealed that a M&CC motor tractor with trailer attached was proceeding north along the western side of Water Street while the pedestrian was walking along the western pavement on Water Street, when he was struck by the left rear wheel of the tractor as the driver was negotiating a turn. The victim died on the spot.
The driver is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
