Flexi time should be implemented more extensively in the public sector says Executive Director of the Barbados Employers Confederation Tony Walcott.
Lamenting that there was a lot of rigidity in the service, Walcott said employers lose out significantly when workers have to take time off to pay taxes or renew drivers 'licences.
"We got a system where the entire island functions between 8 a.m. and 4.30 p.m and we the employers are having to lose so much time when people have to steal time, take time, beg for time to deal with simple things says Walcott..
"Could we not, be working with the public sector unions to changing the concept of what a work is and introduce things like fflexi time on a broader scale", he queried.
Walcott suggusted that the Land Tax Department be open at 6.30 in the morning and closed at eight o'clock at night.
