Principal of the Barbados Community College (BCC), Dr Gladstone Best expects that the recent upgrade of the network will lead to an improvement of its students.
Best told Trakker News, the BCC is now fully networked with Wi-Fi access which give the college the opportunity to incorporate instructions to students on smartphones and other devices.
He explained that the BCC also subscribes to the EBSCO database, which is a system of databases that allow students to a access plethora of journals, books and other material.
"Once they are here and are on our network, from their smartphones and laptops, the students can access our databases and that is very important", says Best.
"I am hoping that with new access to resources the performances of the students will improve. They performance last year was ok but were they are additional resources we expect better. They can improve their learning once they have the appropriate information", he added.
The cost of the network upgrade was $1.2 million.
