Legendary batsman is champion against child abuse

St Johns, Antigua.

Former West Indies Sir Vivian Richards was among officials  from the legislature, the clergy, diplomatic corps, community, media and sectors of the commumity who recently give their  unwavering commitment to the fight against child abuse in all its forms, at the launch of “The Innocence Project” under the Citizens Welfare Division in the Ministry of Health and Social Transformation.

The legendary West Indian batsman

 is one of the voices that will be used to bring national attention to the scourge of child abuse in the year-long campaign.

Other champions from various sectors will be highlighted throughout the duration of the year-long project, which will seek to eliminate the potential for harm, or threat of harm to a child.


 
“I applaud the positions of the champions in prioritizing the advocacy, coordination, reporting standards and prevention programs necessary to reduce child abuse and maltreatment in Antigua & Barbuda,” said Minister of Health and Social Transformation Wilmoth Daniel at the launch of the project.
