$82.9M contract handed over for Mahaica market construction

Mahaica : The contract for building the Mahaica Market was handed over to Dookie Contracting Service by Minister of Local Government and Regional Development Norman Whittaker, yesterday.

Minister Whittaker urged the contractor to work along with the NDC in ensuring the construction of a quality building, within the specified time period. “It is part of Government’s policy that once you come into an NDC that you work closely with them …this will allow them (residents) to have a clear idea of what is being done,” he said.
The new market will house 65 stalls and will replace the prior one that had become dilapidated. Construction is scheduled to begin on Monday and be completed on June 13, 2012.
