Georgetown: Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee has zeroed in on the poor performance of the 911 service, acknowledging that the criticisms aired to date are genuine.“I am fed up with this whole situation of poor performance of the 911 system,” Rohee declared.
The Home Affairs Minister noted that the problem regarding inefficiency of the service has been raised repeatedly. He opined that the problem could not be with staffing, as the Guyana Police Force (GPF) has sufficient “general duties” staff to man the 911 hotline.
“This issue has come up at several meetings….I don’t know if it is a technological problem,” Rohee said.
He promised to meet with personnel from the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company (GT&T), the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Home Affairs Ministry officials and stakeholders to address the problem.
