92 arrests take total to 1,597 in 18 days

Port-of-Spain: The latest statistics from the Ministry of Communications indicat that in the period  8 am September 7th to 8am on September 8th, a total of 92 persons were arrested.

Of those two arrests were gang related, eight were for breach of curfew, nine for serious offences, 70 on outstanding warrants, and two persons were held for enquiries.

In the 18 days since the State of Emergency was imposed, a total of 1,597 persons have been arrested.

Of those 437 were gang-related, 287 were for drug offences, 357 for serious offences, 36  for homicide investigations, 100 for breach of curfew, 40 for enquires, 241  for traffic offences, and  340 for outstanding warrants.

In the past 18 days 2,017  rounds of ammunition have been seized along with five magazines.  A total of 62  firearms have also been seized for the period.
