Georgetown: To date Guyana has recorded 93 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 27 persons have recoveries and there has been 10 deaths. The most recent death occurred on May 5, according to
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Shampoo Persaud today.

So far, a total of 714 persons have been tested with 621 of those tested returning negative. Six persons are in institutional quarantine while the 56 active cases remain in isolation at various facilities across Guyana. Three persons are housed in the COVID-19 ICU at GPHC.
Globally, according to WHO reports, 3, 517,345 confirmed cases with 243,401 deaths. In the Region of the Americas the number of confirmed cases is 1,447,447 with 79, 590 deaths.
The Ministry of Public Health is again calling on all citizens to heed the health advisories and observe the correct hygiene measures and precautions. Citizens are also asked to always practice social distancing in the workplace, public spaces, and while using public transportation so as reduce the spread of the coronavirus diseases.
