Medic soldiers come to residents aid

CLOSE to 200 residents of Ituni and Calcuni in the Upper Berbice River benefited from dental and general medical care when a team from the Guyana Defence Force medical corps took its outreach activities to the communities as part of the recently-concluded excercise HOMEGUARD.
These activities are part of the Force’s Hearts and Minds programme which seeks to foster good relations among communities, through the provision of critical services. The team distributed pharmaceuticals and other medical supplies to residents.
There have been difficulties for residents in the Berbice river to access medical attention since there is no Government Health Centre in the remote area.
