Trinidad and Tobago’s Miss Universe contestant LaToya Woods will be vying for the crown tonight when the pageant, which stirred some controversy this year, culminates in La Vegas, Nevada. Woods, raised eyebrows and spraked a debate when she, along with a few other contestants, opted to pose for photos in nothing but body paint on to promote a segment of the competition earlier this month. She is among 83 contestants who comptete for the tiara at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino starting at 9pm. Woods, 24 is a psychology student at the College of Science Technology and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT). Wendy Fitzwilliams last won the crown from Trinidad and Tobago back in 1998. Among the other contestants from the Caribbean are Jamiaca’s Yendi Phillipps, Guayana’s Tamika Henry Braneka Bassett of the Bahamas and Haiti’s Sarodj Bertin who some international writers are tipping to advance to the final rounds tonight.
