PM meeting with police and prison associations to discuss critical issues

Both the Police Social Welfare Association and The Prison Officers Association are scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar separately today to discuss outstanding issues plaguing the two associations. The General Council of the Police Association yesterday signalled its attention to have its members boycott next Tuesday’s Independence Day celebration over outstanding wage negotiations. The Police Association is scheduled to meet with Persad-Bissessar at 3.30 p.m. today. The Prisons Association is still reeling over the killings of several it officers in recent times and is scheduled to meet with Persad-Bissessar within the next half hour.
