Residents at Number 60 Village Berbice are calling on the higher authorities to look into their interest since they are being ignored by the Regional Democratic Council.
The residents pointed out at a road that leads to the only cemetery in the area where the road is in a very bad state. One man claims that vehicles cannot drive through the road and it is really difficult to lift the caskets whenever there is a funeral because of the distance to reach the cemetery. He pointed out that sometimes the handles of the caskets would lose off and makes it more difficult. Others said that they would use a small boat and paddle through a nearby trench to reach the cemetery.
Mothers in the area complain that when the children all dress to go to school by the time they reach out to the main road, they are all mud up. Pregnant women also find it difficult to get out to the main road.
