More unusual Spring Tide Floods West Demerara- G/town workers unable to reach home

Pandamonium broke out late this afternoon along the West Bank of Demerara just a few minutes drive from the Demerara Harbour Bridge.

Along  Vreed –en-Hoop village water from the Demerara River over flowed and flooded the area. It was reported that cars were unable to traverse the road because the water was about 8 inches above he ground and continues to rise.

The road is higher than the land where thousands of residents live.

A long line of traffic stalled for hours from the Harbour Bridge to the junction that leads to

Vreed-en-Hoop wharf.

Persons working in the city were unable to pass the area to reach home because taxis and Mini Buses are not taking chances through the salt water.

Early this morning high tide flooded the West Bank of Demerara where residents of Sister’s Village complain of losses.

According to information reaching this news agency, another unusual high tide is expected tomorrow morning.
