Unusual High Tide Expected From Today – Coastlines Warning

People living along the coastal plain of Guyana will have to be vigilant over the next seven days and take the necessary precaution since there is a predicted unusual high spring tide.

According to information from the Maritime Administration Department within the Works Services Group/Sea Defence , the spring tide is expected to be higher than usual over the next week and twice daily reaching a peak of 2.95 (m CD).

Over the past two weeks several villages across the West Bank of Demerara were under water caused by the high tide.

Residents in those areas across the West Coast experienced losses due to the flooding.
