Imam Yasin Abu Bakr and his co-accused Brent "Big Brent" Miller are to return to court on October 6 to answer the charge of murder.
Abu Bakr and Miller both appeared before Chief Magistrate Marcia Ayers-Caesar in the Port of Spain Eight Magistrates’ Court today .
The duo were earlier in the day charged with the 1998 murder of Israel Sammy by Magistrate Nalini Singh.
Sammy was killed on May 20, 1998, when four masked men went to his home at Darra Street, Boissiere Village No 1, Maraval. The men pretended to be police officers and dragged Sammy to a nearby ravine and shot him twice in the head, killing him instantly. Abu Bakr and Miller are in custody at the Maximum Security Prison in Arouca.
