Truck Drivers cry out of losing hours of work per day-Pickets Minister Rohee’s Office

This morning truck drivers came together to picket the Ministry of Home Affairs saying with the new order signed by Minister Clement Rohee they are losing five prime hours of work.

The Minister has signed the order in keeping with Section 48.1of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act Chapter 51:02 which stipulates that no motor lorries and slow moving vehicles be allowed to use the city (Georgetown) and East Bank Public Road between Houston and Timehri from Monday to Saturday between 7am to 9am and 4pmto 6pm

This order takes effect from Friday October 1, 2010 and is in light of concern by members of the public of congestion during the above mentioned hours.
Frustrated Truck drivers speaking to TrakkerNews said they are paying $30,000 road license per year and some are paying at least $200,000 to the bank as installments for their vehicle and it is unfair to them to lose so many hours of work.
