Giftland Office Max Gives back half million dollars to depressed community Tiger Bay

Giftland one of the Businesses located in Tiger Bay says it is the right time to give back something to the community and donated school bag packs to the residents there worth more than half million dollars.

Just after 10 hrs today parents and children rushed to the store and collected school bags which included books, pencils, rulers and other stationery.

Speaking to Caribbean Trakker residents expressed gratitude to Giftland for assisting them with some of the items that their children will need for the next school term since it is very difficult financially to send their children to get an education.

Tiger Bay is seen as a slum area in Geogetown and residents were neglected by the present and former Governments.

A few tears ago President Bharrat Jagdeo had offered House Lots to the residents in other administrative regions but many of them refused saying that the area there were given was far out from the city and it will be more difficult for them to travel to their work places.

The brainchild of this Giftland project was conceptualized by Ms. Jade Beepat, the Human Resource Director of Giftland Office Max in an effort to create a harmonious relationship among the co-workers, she came up with the idea of a talent night as a fund raising activity and charity event.

That event raised some two hundred thousand dollars and according to

Ms. Beepat this will definitely be an annual event
