Education Minister responds to SN article November 10th- says primary schools are regional responsibilities

Following raised concerns by parents of students attending the Bagotville and Golden Grove primary schools, which were highlighted in a Stabroek News article, dated November 10, titled ‘Parents shut down schools- poor conditions at Bagotville, Golden Grove Primary’.

Education Minister, Shaik Baksh responded through the Government Information Agency this afternoon saying the highlighted concerns are the responsibility of the respective Regional Administrations.
However with the shortage of water at Golden Grove Primary, the Minister said tomorrow November 11th, 2010, a new water pump will be installed. Minister Baksh stressed that the responsibility of the respective Regional Administrations include infrastructural work, appointing teachers and providing furniture.
