50 secondary schools to benefit from Government’s education plan-Computer labs countrywide.

Cabinet has approved for the purchase of computers for fifty secondary schools across the country. According to the secretary to the Cabinet Dr. Roger Luncheon, by the end of 2011 all secondary schools must be equipped with computer labs at a cost of $4M GD each.

This move is part of President Bharrat Jagdeo’s initiative to have the nation; both the younger and older generations computer literate. The President also has a $30M USD project to provide 90,000 poor households with one laptop per family.

The hinterland areas will also benefit from this technological move and will be equipped with solar panels to provide electricity.
