The Guyana Sugar Corporation says that it’s operations continue to be hampered with huge losses as sugar workers remain on strike.Over 400 workers, most from the Enmore Estate took industrial action since last week for better wages and salaries. Guysuco is not willing to meet the Union demands and strongly advised on Thursday that unless there is a full turnout no negotiations will take place. For weeks now, the Corporation and the Union remain deadlock on the way forward. Each proposal by the company based on certain production criteria has been rejected by the Union, with Guysuco maintaining it’s position that the company is in a financial crisis, hence the move to Government for a 2 billion dollar loan.
