The Guyana International Conference Centre (GICC) at Liliendaal is ready for the hosting of the 4th Union of South American Nations (UNASUR) summit which opens tomorrow. Heads of Government of the 12 member states are expected be part of this conference and among those are newly elected Argentine President Christina Fernandez, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and outgoing Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
This evening President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will be conferred with the nation’s highest award, the Order of Excellence.
At tomorrow’s summit President Bharrat Jagdeo assume assume the Chairmanship of UNASUR held of state Ecuador passes on the mantle.
UNASUR is a political and economic union comprising the twelve independent South American Nations, formed in an effort to create an integrated space in the political economic, social, cultural, environmental and infrastructural spheres of South America.
