Liliendaal, Georgetown-President Bharrat Jagdeo is calling on South American leaders to take a collective approach to combating the drug trade, which he says is crippling the economies of the hemisphere.
Speaking at the opening of the Fourth Regular UNASUR summit just before lunch, Jagdeo says it is among the key challenges facing South Americans.
He says leaders must strive to minimize inequality, since South America is now longer the underdogs.
He adds that there should be no room for anti-democratic tendencies, and that the externally imported doctrine is over.
Jagdeo says a better South America can be created through a democratic identity and that leaders should agree for the formation of the UN ASUR Parliament.
