Abattoir workers strike – cattle owners frustrated

Georgetown : Cattle farmers as far as the Essequibo Islands and West Berbice today voiced their concerns after their cattle are being kept for days at the Municipal Abattoir unattended. The cattle owners learnt that the workers at the Abattoir took a strike action claiming that they were not receiving their salaries.

In the meantime the  cattle are losing weight by not being feed properly and the owners are running at a lost.

One cattle owner said he has lost in excess of 100 thousand dollars for this week.

TrakkerNews made attempts to speak with Jagdeep Singh, the chief meat and food inspector for a comment on the matter but he refused.
