Acting Deputy Commissioner files injunction against PSC

Bridgetown.

Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police Seymour Cumberbatch has filed an injunction in the High Court  against the Attorney General and the Police Service Commission (PSC)  to stop any attempt to fill the post of Deputy Commissioner .

Cumberbatch is asking the Court to suspension the process of filling the vacancy for the post of Deputy Commissioner.

“We consider that the action over the last 24 hours is a viciously cynical interference with that process for selection  of the Deputy Commissioner of Police,” says Queen's Counsel Ralph Thorne  who filed the injunction on Cumberbatch behalf.

“We also consider  that the process has  been so traumatized  by the removal of the Commissioner of Police that it has caused  a fracture that deprives Mr Cumberbatch of his right to enjoy a process that is consistent, transparent, objective,  fair and impartial,  and until the necessary procedural propriety revisits the process  for selection, then  it must not be allowed  to continue", Thorne told the media.

Yesterday Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin was sent on adminstrative leave by the

PSC.
