
Georgetown : Acting Commissioner of police David Ramnarine at a media briefing this morning confirmed that five armed bandits were shot dead by police after an exchange of gunfire at 3am today. The top cop said there was a 911 call from a male of breaking sounds coming from the bottom flat of his building at lot 8 & 9 Turkeyen, Georgetown . A CID plain clothes police patrol was in the vicinity of the report and responded promptly. Two men came out of the yard and challenged the police who return fire killing both persons. A third man came out shooting and was shot. Two others were cornered in a white car who also had an exchange of gunfire with the police, both were shot dead.
The top cop said an AK 47 assault rifle with two magazines taped together was retrieved; two rifles were found in the yard, three cellular phones, a pair of gloves a face mask (tope) and a nipper.
Dead are Timothy St. Hill, Adrian Dalley, Levi Braithwaite, Jermaine Doobay and Eon Forde.
Ramnarine said based on police investigations, the men were after a safe that was in the building. The occupants at the time were care takers as the owners were business people on a trip to Florida, USA.
