Georgetown: During a visit to the new 100-meter breached sea defence Thursday morning, Minister of Public Works Bishop Juan Edghill and a team from the sea defence department conducted a fresh assessment pertaining to ongoing sea defence works at Content/ Dantzig, Mahaicony.

Also in attendance were local authorities inclusive of Regional Chairman, Vickchand Ramphal.
Residents complained about the harsh effects of flooding in the area. After these consultations and receiving recommendations from the residents along with the urgency of the works, a decision was have another contractor is to be engaged was agreed upon.
A meeting with the technical team and local authorities have established another route to access the site to transport machines and materials contrary to the previous advice given.
Minister Edghill said he is aware that residents are expecting the two present contractors BK International and A&S General Contractors Inc to complete their work that is ongoing in a timely manner. He pointed out that he will not be accepting any excuses for further delays.
