AFC dissapointed with GUYSUCO loss with EU price cut.

Georgetown -The Alliance for Change wishes to express its disappointment with the recent information that Guyana will lose $3.8B European Union aid over a failure to reach commitments set.

The state of the sugar industry in Guyana requires a large dosage of capital injection. This is needed to maintain the efficiency of the production infrastructure as well as well as to address the ongoing labour issues.

Thus, the loss of this quantity of funding as a result of the non-implementation of commitments set is unacceptable.

The AFC believes that such funding could have been instrumental in sorting out the technical difficulties that have bedeviled the Skeldon flagship factory.
