Georgetown: Alliance for Change Finance Specialist, Sasenarine Singh, is suing the Guyana National Newspaper for more than $50 million, over the publication of an article suggesting that he was involved in corrupt practices.
Singh has retained as his attorneys Clarence Hughes, Richard Fields, Richard Stoby and Nigel Hughes among others. The lawsuit stems from an article which was published and reprinted on more than one occasions in the Guyana Chronicle alleging that Singh while employed at the National Milling Company had engaged in corrupt activities.
According to Singh the articles were published while he was not in the country and as such he waited until he arrived in Guyana to file the suit. Singh says too that he will be moving to the courts to file a similar lawsuit against the National Communications Network.
