AFC hangs black banner for President’s Appreciation Day.

Georgetown : Opposition party Alliance For Change is on a campaign calling on citizens to boycott the planned Appreciation Day for President Bharrat Jagdeo slated for this afternoon at the Guyana National Stadium.

The AFC this morning hang a black banner at the party’s campaign head quarters and dubbed it “to mourn Jadgeo's appreciation day”.

The party has been running full page advertisements in two of the daily newspapers over the past week calling the Friday September 16th event “Day of Shame & Disgrace”.

The Appreciation Day organizers say the event was planned for citizens to thank the President for his achievements and dedication in serving the people of Guyana as President for the past decade.

On the full page advertisement paid for by the AFC, there are 30 points and among those are “the 16%, the torture of a teen, high rate of corruption, the murder of a former Agriculture Minister, highest maternal death rate in the Caribbean etc.
