Georgetown :It has come to the attention of the Alliance For Change (AFC) that GECOM is giving serious consideration to a request from the People’s Progressive Party to reopen the period of Claims and Objections for persons to be included on the preliminary list of electors. The party understands that GECOM has deferred their weekly statutorily meeting to tomorrow Thursday 14th July, 2011 for a decision on this matter.
The AFC states categorically that it totally rejects any attempt to do this and is in the process of communicating this to GECOM.
The AFC will not support any effort to delay Guyana’s general elections due this year.
