Georgetown: The Alliance for Change (AFC) says that the party is very concerned about that medical waste being dumped at Red Village on the Essequibo Coast.
Chairman Nigel Hughes produced the evidence in the form of photos of human bones and other biological waste.
Hughes said that in the past two years, the medical waste started being dumped next to the village of about 1, 000 persons.
Hughes said that the dumpsite is not fenced and there appears to be no efforts to bury the waste.
AFC parliamentarian Valerie Lowe said her main concern was the children of the area, who play with the used syringes that sometimes fall from the dump truck. The party would be reporting the matter of the Pan American Health Organisation.
Hughes described the situation as appalling, saying it is in violation of the country’s environment laws and laws governing waste disposal.
